Where to stay during Olympics 2010?
The hotel and motel booking are one of the fast growing numbers in Vancouver this year. All the major rooms hotels and motels are booked long way in advance. The room prices went up 2-3 times, and if you are lucky to get one you will surely over-pay. In this situation it is more reasonable to look for the places in surrounding cities in motels near Vancouver that are connected via SkyTrain. The perfect place to stay would be 30-45 minutes car ride from Vancouver or right next to the SkyTrain lines which is a great mean of transportation during the influx of game fans. Such places can be found in Richmond, Coquitlam and Surrey. There is a nice and quiet motel in North Surrey, close to the Sky Train last station, King George, called Grouse Creek Motel. It is a family own motel with good reputation of being a quiet and clean place. The prices are ok and rooms are still available. If you are looking for a place to stay during Olympics 2010, this will be your best option. In case all Surrey motels are booked, which is high improbability, your other options will be Richmond, where you can find many 5, 4 and 3 stars hotels or motels. Since Richmond is located near the airport I would suggest this as you second option. Your third option is Coquitlam. There are many places to stay there however transportation wise it is not a suitable location, as you need to change the trains or buses. Of course if you are not so picky, I would recommend you to stay on one of the Coquitlam motels or hotels.
